I decided to test some etching mixes and two pens.
First thing I did was cut my PCB and draw my test images.
This first side was drawn with an oil based paint marker called uniPAINT, manufactured by Mitsubishi Pencil. It's a medium line opaque marker, similar to the ones used to touch up paint scratches on automobiles.

On the other side of the PCB, I drew an image using a Sharpie Marker. Everyone swears by them for PCB tracing. We'll see...

I set my PCB cut in an etchant solution of one part H2O (Purified Drinking Water) to one and a half parts FeCl3 (Ferric Chloride)
Always add acid to water!
Never water to acid!
I stirred the PCB around every five minutes to agitate the solution. After sitting for twenty minutes I removed my PCB.

Amazing, the oil paint pen held through to the end. As for the Sharpie.. well take a look. No copper to be found, well little specs here and there, what a shame. Who knows maybe it's the color I used, or maybe I didn't trace it enough.

This is what the end product is with the oil paint pen. I have the feeling I'll be using the paint markers more.
